The rhythm of dedication: Aahana's journey

A passionate and dedicated young dancer, Aahana Elangovan presents her Arangetram — the debut solo performance marking years of rigorous training, discipline, and devotion to the classical art of Bharatanatyam. From her earliest steps in dance as a toddler to mastering intricate classical compositions, Aahana’s journey reflects perseverance, grace, and love for the art form.

About Aahana's early steps

Aahana Elangovan is a sophomore at Mountain House High School and a naturally gifted dancer who began dancing at the age of four. She initially trained in ballet and tap, performing in numerous recitals and stage shows across the South Bay. Born into a family of dancers, Aahana’s artistic roots run deep. Her mother, Krithika Manikavasagam, is a Bharatanatyam dancer, and her father, Elangovan Kulandaivelu, is a versatile hip hop dancer trained in multiple styles. Inspired by her parents, Aahana developed a strong foundation and love for movement early in life.

Giving back through dance: MH art in motions

Driven by her deep passion for dance and a desire to give back to the community, Aahana founded MH Art In Motions, a non-profit initiative dedicated to sharing the joy of dance with younger generations. Through this platform, she teaches children, organizes community sessions, and promotes dance as a pathway to creativity, confidence, and physical well-being. Her mission extends beyond performance, she aims to build a supportive community where art, fitness, and cultural appreciation come together. By mentoring young students, Aahana hopes to inspire them to discover their own passions while staying active and connected.

A harmonious balance: Dance & medicine

In parallel with her artistic journey, Aahana is also pursuing a strong academic path toward medicine. As part of the Biomedical pathway at Mountain House High School, she is developing a foundation in health sciences, anatomy, and human physiology. This academic pursuit complements her understanding of movement, discipline, and the physical aspects of dance. Today, she continues to balance rigorous academic goals with intensive dance training, teaching, and learning new styles, ensuring that her passion for dance remains a lifelong companion alongside her professional aspirations.

A world record achievement: Aahana's unique journey

One of Ahana’s remarkable milestones was participating in an intensive dance workshop conducted by Guru Madurai R. Muralidharan. As part of the 60 Jati Challenge, she performed continuously for over two and a half hours , an extraordinary display of stamina, discipline, and devotion. This achievement earned her a World Guinness Record recognition, Asia Record recognition, and was accomplished at the young age of 11. Aahana envisions a future where her love for dance and her medical career go hand in hand, combining artistic expression with scientific knowledge to promote wellness, healing, and holistic health.
